These next two weeks we are going to learn about St. Martin's Day! Part of the tradition is to make a paper lantern and learn songs to sing while walking through town and at the end of the parade, the story of St. Martin is often reenacted and there are Martinsmaenner (yeast dough baked good in the shape of a man with raisins for eyes) for the children. We have started the lanterns and you can find a tutorial here. The folding is hard for the kids but with a little practice they will get it! Then we will learn this song as sung by this wonderful brotherly duo from Germany (Just click on the link at the linked page)!
