I am very excited to introduce a new thing we are doing in German class. We are starting a participation incentive program as well as a Badge program. The students can earn participation stamps by volunteering and answering questions in class or any other activity that can be considered participation such as working hard on activities, etc. The badges are the exciting part. These are based on things the students can do with the language. For instance, this week everyone is earning the badge for greeting a friend. To earn the badge the students must have a short conversation with me where they say hello, ask how I am doing, and then answer me when I ask how they are doing. So far it has been going quite well and the students are enjoying having a record of things they can do with the language. Additionally there are some badges that they need to do things on their own in order to earn them. They can research something about Germany that is not covered in class, research a certain famous person who speaks German, learn something about the language on their own, etc. You can download and view the badges below. To help your student collect all the badges, please help them complete the on your own tasks. The students just love getting those stamps. In addition, the students will receive special priviledges for completing the badges and the participation sheets. I have not yet decided what they will be but some of the ideas are: Shoes off for German class, Sitting in the rocking chair/bean bag for German class, etc. Any ideas? please drop me a line on the contact page!
